Level 1 or 2 Apprentice Carpenter

West-Can Human Resource Solutions is currently recruiting for a Level 1 or 2 Carpenter Apprentice for a local company.

 
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
 
General Description:
This position is fulltime, permanent which does allow the candidate to work under a Journeyman and accumulate apprenticeship hours. The Apprentice Carpenter will be responsible for assisting with all construction activities that take place on the work site, ensuring high standards of workmanship and efficiency and working a safe manner. 
 
Specific Duties:

  • Assist on site with excavations, and concrete pours
  • Assist with the building of foundations, installing floor beams, laying sub-flooring, installing of  walls and roofing systems
  • Assist in the fitting and installing trim, doors, stairs, moulding and hardware
  • Measuring, cutting and joining materials made of wood or wood substitutes
  • Repairing and renovating wooden structures
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings and sketches
  • Ensure that you are complying with all safety practices
  • Participate in construction activities in relation to plans
  • Keep construction site clean and safe
  • Respectful interactions with customers the Building Inspectors and sub-contractors
  • Responsible to respect all tools and ensure that the owner or your supervisor is made aware of any replacements required in a timely fashion
  • Complete and submit your time sheet bi-weekly
  • Other duties as assigned 

Responsibilities and Procedures:

  • The Apprentice Carpenter will demonstrate an ability to work well with fellow staff members.
  • The Apprentice Carpenter will have a valid driver’s license and the use of a vehicle for work
  • The Apprentice Carpenter must be physically fit and able to perform functions and activities on a construction work site.

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Levels one or two in Carpentry apprenticeship preferred
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Minimum 2 years experience in construction of Residential, and Commercial buildings
  • Must be attentive to detail, logical and organized
  • Must be punctual and will communicate any required time off or problems to the Owner or Supervisor in a timely fashion.
  • Must be a team player who will contribute to a positive, healthy work environment.
  • Will demonstrate an ability to make decisions that are consistent with the best interest of the organization.

Office Administrator

West-Can Human Resource Solutions is currently recruiting for an Office Administrator with a company located just outside of Wawanesa, MB.
 
Reports to: General Manager
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (hours offer flexibility in scheduling)
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide outstanding and friendly customer service when answering phones, assisting with general inquiries, and transferring further questions to GM or Sales/Technician
  • Administrative support to General Manager and Sales/Technician including drafting quotes, tracking orders, and data entry
  • General clerical assistance including filing, and mail distribution
  • Inventory management of incoming and outgoing products, purchasing, and the picking of small orders
  • General accounting within QuickBooks including account payables, receivables, preparation of monthly statements, and expense account tracking
  • Assisting with the shipping, and receiving of smaller packages at Brandon locations at the beginning and end of shift
  • Arranging for international exporting & importing of products
  • Update and maintain Website content, user manuals, brochures, handout material, email blasts and social media marketing
  • Develop and maintain internal procedure processes
  • This position is expected to grow and change over time as this location grows; other duties as required
 
Qualifications:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, and QuickBooks
  • 2-3 years of administrative experience, including bookkeeping
  • Experience creating marketing material, including brochures and social media for business posts
  • Process oriented with a passion for continuous improvement
  • Must have a valid class 5 license and possess own vehicle
  • Previous  agricultural experience considered an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a drive to provide outstanding customer service
  • Excellent organizational skills and a proven independent problem solver
  • Willingness and initiative to learn
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must possess a pro-active approach to challenges and opportunities
 
Successful candidate must be prepared to commute approximately 35 minutes outside of Brandon.
 
This position offers an above average compensation structure.

Assistant Leasing Coordinator

 
West-Can Human Resource Solutions is currently recruiting for an Assistant Leasing Coordinator for a Retail Property Management Business.
 
Term Position – (1 Year Term)
Hours – Part-Time (Monday to Friday - 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
 
Duties & Responsibilities are to provide full Administrative Support to the Leasing Manager which involves answering phones, emails, compiling reports, letter and memo writing, filing.   Additional duties would involve successfully arranging for the execution of license agreements with temporary tenants, maintenance of specialty leasing database, collection of rent, insurance, coordination of move-in, set-up and move-out as well as monitoring of tenant’s ongoing operations and their adherence to lease provisions.
 
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years relevant work experience
  • Post-Secondary Education an asset
  • Strong attention to detail with legal documents
  • Negotiating skills
  • Strong communications skills both verbal and written
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
