West-Can Human Resource Solutions was started in 1997 by Tim Silversides out of the realization that small / medium businesses find benefit in allowing an HR service provider to focus on their HR function which in turn frees up the business to focus on, well, their business!

West-Can Human Resource Solutions has enjoyed 25 years of providing HR support to small and medium businesses in the Wheat City. Specializing in recruitment, temporary labor support, and HR policy and process, our team has the skills, passion, and desire to work closely with your business to ensure a strong workplace culture, strategic HR alignment, and labor standards compliance. Staff Bios

Camilla Timmer

Camilla Timmer became a partner at West-Can Human Resource Solutions in 2017, and has been an integral member of their team since 2012. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from University of Manitoba and a Business Administration Diploma in Human Resources from Assiniboine Community College. Camilla wrote and passed the HR National Knowledge Exam in 2016 and became a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) in 2018. She holds her Professional Recruiter Certification which demonstrates proficiency in the use of advanced online search tools and strategies to seek passive candidates.

Camilla’s drive and interest lies in providing our clients with exemplary service when helping them with all aspects of their human resource requirements. When providing permanent or temporary recruitment services Camilla strives for individuals who will have the best possible skills and personality fit for the company we are placing them with.

Rob Starkell

Rob Starkell is a local entrepreneur with a wealth of multinational, fortune 500 experience. Rob put himself through university with two small businesses and after graduating University of Manitoba with his B.Comm.(Hons) in Finance, he moved to Zurich Switzerland to work for Kraft Foods International, where he took on a number of increasingly demanding roles within their Financial Budgeting & Reporting department.

Rob’s career then moved into Enterprise system deployment at Kraft Foods working on Finance system consolidations and business process improvements. His project management work took him throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, and the USA before re-settling in Brandon, where he began work with Wyeth/Pfizer as their SAP implementation manager. At Pfizer, Rob was trained in Lean Six Sigma and led continuous improvement projects across their manufacturing sites globally, ending up as a senior leadership executive at one of their largest manufacturing facilities in Ireland. When Rob moved back to Brandon he kept himself busy with independent business consulting, started up Brandon Bouncy Castles & Inflatables, was Administrative Officer for Brandon Schools Instrumental Music Association, Assistant Returning Officer for Elections Canada, and continues on as Executive Director of Westman Lions Manor.

Rob became Co -Owner in West-Can Human Resource Solutions in July of 2017. His unique skillset and international business experience provides West-Can with a resource to assist Westman businesses looking to improve efficiencies through system automation or business process improvements. Being both a local entrepreneur and successful senior level executive, Rob has the skills to help grow your business potential.

Holly Van Zeben

Holly Van Zeben is the HR Generalist at West-Can Human Resource Solutions. A large part of Holly’s role at West-Can HR is to support our clients with all their HR needs, may that be recruitment, compensation reviews, developing job descriptions, or creating policy manuals (to name a few!). Holly has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Brandon University and a Certificate in Human Resources Management from Red River College. Holly has also recently become a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) Candidate and is working towards her full CPHR designation. What Holly enjoys the most about her role here at West-Can HR is building relationships with new and existing clients and working towards the common goal of expanding, improving, and implementing the HR services we offer.

Lora Hay

Lora joined the West-Can HR Solutions Team in 2018 as a recruiter, bringing with her the experience of working in the career development and employment services fields. After working for Rolling River School Division for many years while her family was growing, she decided to return to post-secondary education and graduated from Assiniboine Community College’s Applied Counselling Skills program. This program prepared her for management roles in Non-Profit Mental Health, Career Development and Employment organizations. She is looking forward to completing and become a Registered Certified Recruiter which will provide addition skills to her position with the West-Can HR team. Lora spends the majority of her time working with clients to fill their recruitment needs and onboarding qualified job seekers to our job seekers database.
